falafelsticks with sesame seeds crust

  • 1 small can chickpeas ca. 250g without water
  • 1 small onion grated
  • 1 garlic clove big
  • ca. 5 stems of parsley flat leave
  • ca. 5 stems of cilantro
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • each ¼ tsp of tumeric paprika powder and cumin
  • pepper to taste
  • ca. 5 tbsp. sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp oliveoil
  • 2 tbsp. breadcrumps
  • 2-4 tbsp. flour


  • preheat your oven to 200°degrees celsius and prepare a baking sheet with baking paper
  • drain of the chickpeas and mix with the other ingredients (without the flour!) in a foodprocessor or with an immersion blender
  • add as much of the flour as you need to get a bit denser mass, be careful, don´t add too much, it will dry out the sticks. It will be a bit sticky, but it will be worth it afterwards. Plus it´s nice to lick the leftovers from your hands :-)
  • form little balls with your hands and roll them on a non sticking surface to little rolls
  • roll carefully in the sesame seeds and place them on the baking sheet
  • I get 12 sticks out of this recipe
