German Butterkuchen - butter cake recipe from my granny

Simple but yummy recipe for german butter cake from my grandmother. It has always been a family favorite!

Zutaten

For the dough

  • 500 g flour
  • 1 egg
  • 250 ml milk skimmed
  • 100 g margarine
  • 100 g sugar
  • 1 package dried yeast 9g
  • a pinch of salt
  • peel of one lemon
  • topping
  • 200 g sour cream - pure
  • 120 g sugar
  • ca. 50g butter in small pieces
  • 100 g planed/shaved almonds

Zubereitung

  • put the flour with the salt, sugar and lemon peel in a mixing bowl
  • warm up the milk slightly with the margarine - don´t let it get too hot, it will destroy the yeast - and add a pinch of sugar and the yeast, stir thoroughly
  • now add the milk-yeast-margarine mixture to the dry ingredients and kneed until the dough comes off the bowl.
  • now use your hands to put the dough on a baking sheet and spread evenly.
  • Spread the sour cream on top and then plant the butter pieces in tiny rows, about 3cm apart - offset
  • at the end sprinkle the sugar evenly and then the almonds.
  • bake at 200°degrees celsius for about 20 minutes. Better check after 15 minutes.
